South Carolina Recap
Ron Paul campaigned in South Carolina for a grand total of four days.
Paul quadrupled his 2008 numbers after tripling them in New Hampshire and Iowa.
There is no indisputable front runner. Sorry Mitt Romney.
SC winner Newt Gingrich has as many big government offenses–if not more–than Romney. Yelling at John King does not change this.
Only a little over one percent of the delegates have been awarded.
Only Paul and Romney have the money and organization to go the distance in this race. Gingrich isn’t even on the ballot in Virginia.
Noted RP 2012 Chairman Jesse Benton last night: “If the Republican Party nominates a candidate who supported the healthcare individual mandate and bailouts, they do so at their peril as tonight’s top two finishers would deliver President Obama a second term.”
Only Paul and Romney continue to score well in head-to-head polls against Obama. Gingrich’s appeal to independents is dismal.
As SC State Senator Tom Davis Tweeted last night:
“Ron Paul got 3.6 pct. SC primary vote in 2008, 13 yesterday. Progress!”
Davis is right. We are winning. This is only the beginning.
